Three Reps celebrate the Xindi empire by tossing down mice (done better in 'V'.) Speeding to squelch sphere 41, Trip worries about Enterprise coming apart at the seams as T'Pol realizes Vulcans will have to stop the Borgodoes if humanity fails. Phlox prepares a neuraleptic compound that gives them twelve minutes inside the sphoam. Bug-bitten Hoshi, not feeling or looking her best, whines until Archer manhandles her into the homework chair.

No longer able to express my dismay I'll just continue: Daniels zips Jon to his Very Important Day forming the United Federation of Planets. He mustn't ignore his place in history; someone else can die overloading the Modulator. But Archer is firm that Earth must be saved. The Reps rue the loss of all that water and destroy an unarmed orbital outpost.

T'Pol encourages Phlox to hope for the best while he composes his will. NX-01 penetrates the sphoam and the color goes hazy and the skin grows scaly. ("Try not to scratch it." Easy for the unaffected Phlox to say.) Some Borgodoes attack in engineering, trash Trip's office, then sink their arms elbow-deep into the honey pots of ship rocking. But time's up as Trip's Mighty Deflector Pulse implodes sphere 41 and all the others linked to it. The Expanse returns to normal space.

The Reps move to attack the puny Degraship but Shran! drops in, anticipating Archer's need for help. Aboard the Modulator Reed kicks a Rep into its bottomless pit but leaves with Hoshi after he can't talk Archer out of planting the pocketful o' charges. Dolum beams over right before Andorian forward cannons obliterate his ship. Archer gets a beating but he terminates Dolum by hiding a charge in his hydrotubing, then runs along an exploding catwalk as boom! The weapon blows up.

The Xindi report Archer's complete success except returning with his away team and acknowledge his sacrifice. In sickbay T'Poldoilpainting talks to Porthos, touches him, and admits Vulcans aren't so tough after all. It's just a matter of time before we're all better. After the Aquatics fly them home Hoshi returns to the bridge. Here the best series' finale ever ends. But in an alternate universe, neither our future nor our past...

Hoshi can't find any orbital traffic, and Trip and Travis shpod to SF only to be attacked by fighter planes from the Second World War. What's more, in a medical camp twelve monkeys and an alien Nazi attend a seriously wounded Archer! Even if this is earth, who on earth cares?
