EARTH EJECT

Set up an eject path from Earth by selecting a target. Click TGT until the HUD Target reads "Moon." (The word "Target" is in red indicating no hold or lock on target.)

See the dashed blue line? That's the direct path to the Moon, now on the other side of the Earth.

LOCK ON TARGET

Click HLD to assign attitude control to AGMFD. The HUD Target indicator changes from red to yellow as RCS seeks and changes from yellow to green when locked.

Your trajectory is computed and displayed along a path continuously pointed at the Moon. You'll perform alignments along the way so initial large displacements are OK.

Use the PeS (peri-Source) indicator to make sure your computed trajectory clears the Earth with sufficient respect to the atmosphere. Any trajectory through atmosphere (<100km) may end in poor results.

WAIT UNTIL THE TIME IS RIGHT

If you wish, use the MOD switch to wipe text off the display and ZM+ to zoom out to view the entire path. Switch it back before engaging your engines.

READY STEADY GO!

After your attitude locks, watch the PeT (peri-Target) field. This shows your trajectory's closest approach to the Moon and should decrease quickly, then slowly, then increase.

You want to engage the drive at the inflection. When ready click ENG to do so. The Main thrust HUD shows AGMFD's best response to desired conditions.

EJECT date goes yellow and no longer advances. Start your stopwatch!
